2507 Super Duplex Stainless Steel (UNS S32750 / EN 1.4410): High Strength for Harsh Corrosive Environments

2507 Super Duplex Stainless Steel (UNS S32750 / EN 1.4410): Built for Extreme Corrosion Resistance
Need a high-strength, corrosion-resistant stainless steel for demanding chloride environments? 2507 Super Duplex Stainless Steel—also known as UNS S32750, EN 1.4410, X2CrNiMoN25-7-4 and F53—is engineered for severe offshore, seawater, oil & gas and chemical-processing conditions.
Manufacturing Process of 2507 Super Duplex Stainless Steel
-
Refining & alloy control
2507 is commonly produced through controlled melting and refining routes such as EAF, AOD and VOD. Carbon, sulfur and residual elements are tightly controlled while chromium, nickel, molybdenum and nitrogen are precisely balanced. -
Hot working
Hot rolling or hot forging is carried out within a carefully controlled temperature range. Proper processing is essential to avoid detrimental intermetallic phases and maintain the desired duplex structure. -
Solution annealing & rapid quenching
Solution annealing, typically around 1,050–1,125°C, followed by rapid water quenching, helps achieve the balanced austenitic-ferritic microstructure that gives 2507 its excellent strength, toughness and corrosion performance. -
Cold forming, machining & inspection
Products can be supplied through cold drawing, cutting, polishing and CNC machining. Quality inspection may include PMI, UT, dimensional inspection, hardness testing, mechanical testing and corrosion testing, with material certificates available on request.
Why Choose 2507 Stainless Steel?
With approximately 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum and nitrogen alloying, 2507 delivers a PREN above 40—making it a leading choice for chloride-rich and highly corrosive service.
- High mechanical strength: Minimum yield strength typically reaches 550 MPa, with tensile strength commonly around 800–1,000 MPa in solution-annealed condition. This can reduce wall thickness and component weight compared with conventional austenitic stainless steels.
- Outstanding pitting and crevice corrosion resistance: Ideal for seawater, brine, chloride-containing process streams and aggressive chemical media.
- Excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking: A reliable material option for offshore, marine and sour-service-related equipment where corrosion risk is high.
- Balanced toughness and thermal properties: 2507 combines good impact toughness with relatively low thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity.
- Important service consideration: 2507 is generally not recommended for prolonged exposure above 300°C, as elevated temperatures may adversely affect toughness and microstructure.
